Arabella Vintac will not perform at the announced concert at "The Cave Rock Club" in Stockholm, Sweden this Saturday 16th January 2010. The reason of the cancellation was not specifically mentioned, according to their official website, the concert is cancelled due to tragic personal reasons.

They expect to hit the stage at another date, which will be announced later. Stay tuned for more updates.

First of all,if you haven`t read the first lesson, I highly suggest you do so. (enter link)

On this lesson I`ll be showing you various arpeggios, each one with its unique sound.hopefully you`ll find something you like and add it to your guitar playing.

Section 1: Diminished Arpeggios (Cause neo classical farts love it!)

Well if you`re familiar with the works of becker, friedman, moore, etc`, you know they just love to use those diminished runs.

The most common shapes of that kind are the 4 string shapes(shown above), which can be extended if you take the same thing 3 frets higher, and from there another 3 and so on.

Thats also a diminished run,on the lower strings.
Here`s a nice diminished arpeggio I've come up with, that covers all 6 strings:

Thats about it for this section. use those shapes to get an idea about the sound and tonality of diminished.

Section 2: Pentatonic Arpeggios (break out of the box)

Every guitarist knows the pentatonic scale and can play it "in boxes". The problem is that most guys are stuck in those boxes and can't really expand the pentatonic sound to more stuff.

Becker showed in the AIM clinic some pentatonic ideas, which are original and great. His advice is to change the order of notes in the scale. Meaning, if we`re playing in A pentatonic minor, the notes are: A,C,D,E,G. So if we play those 5 notes in any order, how much we want to, we`ll get a pentatonic tonality.

Here is a pentatonic arpeggio,which sounds really awesome.

You can check if you`d like to, you`ll see that all the notes in that arpeggio are from the A penta. Minor scale. Thats one idea that you can utilize to every penta. Minor key you want.

Next is another arpeggio, which is actually famous! This is the arpeggio used in the intro of becker`s "perptual burn".

This guy is A penta. Minor too! Becker just changed the order of the notes and got a great fresh sound, from an overly used scale.

Last idea for this section is actually playing the penta. Minor scale!
Well not exactly, we`ll play it by sweep picking.

Its pretty obvious, you got here the A penta. Minor scale, played in 3 different octaves. The key here is to make the arpeggio not sound like the same pattern repeated 3 times.

In order to do that, you`ll need to learn to sweep it, pick every string just once, meaning left hand is all legato. It might seem like an akward thing to sweep, but its possible and sounds great in my opinion!

Section 3: Weird Stuff.

The first weird arpeggio I`ll show is the Augmented. This one is rarely used, mostly because its so damn dissonant! Although you can hear it on cacophony`s "black cat" in the end of the chorus. Here is one shape that covers all 6 strings, you can derive from it smaller shapes. beware as it sounds very nasty!

I guess you can use it for some shocking breaks, or that kind of stuff.

The next (and last in this section) Arpeggio is the Whole-tone. As you can tell, its based on the whole tone scale. If you`re not familiar with this one, the formula is: 1-2-3-b5-b6-b7. Whole-tone gives you a modern-day classical sound.

Thats pretty dissonant isnt it? Thats what makes this section "weird"!

That concludes this lesson, I hope you learned something new and liked it. On my next lesson I`ll show you exotic arpeggios, some beautiful stuff that becker showed in some clinics he did back in the day.

Deep Purple The Real Highway Star For 40 Years.

British legendary band Deep Purple already exists for 40 Years and still rocking. What a great achievement. The band's popular songs like "Smoke On The Water" and "Highway Star" had been written and composed long time ago back in the 60's?/70's but still got high popularity and being listened by many of the younger generations.

Recent interview conducted by expressandstar.com reveals that Deep Purple didn't shows any sign to quit from the music industries, in fact I believe they never know the word of "retirement" in their life. Ian Gillan the frontman of Deep Purple for 40 years said they’ll be in full writing mode around February.

“I take that a bit badly,” Ian says. “I mean, we’ve always been doing this. Live music is what we do – make new songs that we include in the act every now and again.”

“No-one’s done any writing yet,” says Ian. “I’ve got about 50 songs in my library at the moment, but they’re not for Deep Purple.”

Rapture of the Deep was the band’s last studio album, released in November 2005, and fans have been hoping for something new in 2010.

Girl Went Missing After Attending Metallica Concert.

A 20 years old girl Morgan Dana Harrington was missing after attending Metallica Concert. She was last seen while attending concert at the John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville, VA.

"Morgan has blonde hair and blue eyes, is 5'6", 120 lbs., and was wearing a black 'PANTERA' T-shirt, black skirt, and black boots. She was not carrying I.D. or a cell phone. Morgan was separated from her friends shortly before 9pm at the venue. Police have been searching the area since Monday.

"We encourage anyone who has any information regarding Morgan's disappearance to please come forward. Additionally, if you or anyone you know shot video footage or took photos of the concert or audience, please check to see if there is anyone in your photos who might resemble Morgan. In Megadeth forum section of the band's website, Dave Mustaine has commented the negative thought about people hating Megadeth.

"There has been a lot of talk about the possibility of a 'Big Four' tour [featuring METALLICA, MEGADETH, SLAYER and ANTHRAX], and while I find the timing peculiar, the opportunity is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, because we all are really so very different now, and the chances of this happening are probably not going to come around again in the future; due to personal plans, new ventures, and the inevitable passing of torches to the next generation in each of our respective genres (or the sub-genres that were created).

"Our crew and the Japanese crew were keeping it just to our friends and the top acts. Guns n’ Roses have revealed plans to bring Chinese Democracy to Canada. According to Rolling Stone.com, various Canadian Websites teased a huge announcement concerning Gn’R touring Canada. Megadeth's Endgame Updates

Megadeth's new upcoming album "Endgame" has won the 'editors soundcheck' of German monthly metal rag, Rock Hard magazine and is featured as 'album of the month' in the September issue.

This album also was appraised track by track by Thequietus.com To quote some of the appraised:

Doesn't Mustaine just love this kind of subject matter? A regime inflicting a brutal new world order on innocent civilians etc - it's probably a bit like being in his band. "Attention! Attention! All citizens report to your district detention centres" says the goon with the megaphone before we get a satisfyingly chuggy riffscape straight from the late 80s. Again the latter part of the song involves the accelerator being buried directly to the floor amid guitar hero meltdown.

Headcrusher

Having been touted around for weeks now this, the first single, is a perfectly acceptable, straight-ahead metal track which in truth is one of the album's highlights; fast, power-metal that's a bit like 'Painkiller' era Judas Priest. It's as uncompromising and unintelligent as the title suggests. Mustaine's snarl is the key here as only he could deliver this with such vitriol, and there's more intense playing too as he and Broderick trade lead breaks. It's a welcome return to no-nonsense, well produced technical metal and a good advert for where Megadeth are at at this point.

Nothing Left To Lose

An ominously rumbling bass intro ushers in a rather predictable and plain riff that makes a lot of fuss about going precisely nowhere. Yet true to form, Megadeth rescue the track: the tempo builds to a frenetic conclusion of both track and a surprisingly sturdy album.

Recent update from Slash revealed that his solo album will only available next year, the album which will enter the mixing process in September is really great & deserves tour support according to him.

Hey all, hope you're all good. I'm long between blogs, I know.

Anyway, I don't know how I'm supposed to wait until next year to put out this record! It is so fucking cool & I am so anxious to get it out already. We start mixing soon & that will be that, ready to go. But, I have to wait, there's no way around it, for all kinds of logistic reasons & that's the reality.

But, my VR bandmates & I had a meeting a couple of weeks ago & although the search for a singer will continue, I am going to tour on my solo record most likely thru next summer starting in March or April. We (VR) will keep the word of mouth system going & listening to submissions from singers & checking out different singer's sites etc, we know the right guy is out there somewhere. It's possible somebody could turn up before I do my tour & we could start working on new material sooner than later, in a perfect world.

As far as my tour is concerned, I have already started to put together ideas for a kickass band & the plan is to perform some new stuff, Snakepit, VR & Guns stuff. The new album is really great & deserves that I should support it. Plus, I'm really looking forward to getting out there & doing some gigs, its been more than a year since I was on a proper tour & all these one off jams are basically just a tease.

So, there's the update for now, I'm still tinkering away on the solo record but there really isn't much left to do on it but mix it, which starts in September.

In June I was for Chile to touch in Coca-Cola Guitar Fest.
The Festival, beyond my presence, counted on the most known guitarist, Alejandro Silva and a competition for guitaristas Chilean.

The video shows as well as was the event, also my face of suffering trying to say the language of the Kiko of the Keys.

The edition is excellent, only lacked my initiative to touch an Underwear ad-lib, where galera all in unison beat palms in accompaniment.

Richie Kotzen's will release a new album called "Peace Sign" this fall. No exact release date being announced yet, stay tuned for more updates.

In other news, Richie Kotzen live DVD, "Bootlegged In Brazil", was released in Europe on December 5, 2008.It is the first official live performance to be made available by this amazing ex-Poison and ex-Mr.Big.

The DVD features a performance from Kotzen's South American tour in 2007 and includes classic tracks from his repertoire: from the rhythmic labors of "A Love Divine" to "Go Faster" (off Kotzen's last studio album, "Return Of The Mother Head’s Family Reunion") and the great "Doin' What The Devils Says To Do".

Kevin Cogill Gets House Arrest

Kevin Cogill, the Guns N Roses' Chinese Democracy uploader gets house arrest, Kevin Cogill was handed one year probation and two months’ home confinement after he was agreeing to produce an anti-piracy message.

Guns N Roses's latest album, Chinese Democracy was released in November, was cost millions and took 17 years to complete. After 'stealing' the album and uploaded it to the internet before the official release, Kevin Cogill was arrested and found guilty. Cogill faced a maximum of a year in prison and the amount of infringement equaled $371,000. After agreed to help produce an anti-piracy public service address with the RIAA, the government withdrew the $371,000 figure and agreed not to fine him.

He informed the authorities that he received the music online and unsolicited — a confession prosecutors said might pave the way for more “targets” to be prosecuted. Cogill uploaded nine songs from the 14-track album on June 18, 2008. Court records show he confessed to the FBI. The case was cracked by an investigator with the RIAA.

Lesson from this news, beware of what you are sharing in the internet, you might become the next Kevin Cogill. Seriously dude, no piracy!

JAKARTA METAL FEST 2009

Indonesian heavy metal musicians and their fans will rock Metal Fest 2009 this weekend, Sunday, July 19. News at The Jakarta Globe revealed an exciting news about the country's metal scene and through this concert, it promises an opportunity to see just how far Indonesian metal scene has come.

Jakarta Metal Fest 2009 is the brainchild of event organizer Divisi-20. Yura Lagan, founder of Divisi-20, said Metal Fest was a spinoff of Jakarta Death Fest, which began in 2005 with performances by local extreme heavy metal groups.

Yura said Jakarta Metal Fest 2009 would feature Jakarta bands, as well as bands from around the archipelago that are still building their careers like Kumal from Medan, North Sumatra, and Pernicious Head from Purwokerto, Central Java.

“I wanted to have bands other than the well-known city ones like Seringai and Noxa,” Yuri said. “I saw Kumal when they opened for [German band] Caliban, when they played Jakarta. I only managed to catch their last song, but their mix of Indonesian ethnic music and heavy metal, and their political lyrics in particular, really intrigued me.”

Ari Winarto who will be playing at the festival along with his group Death Valley said, "These kinds of gigs show general audiences that metal can be accepted by the mainstream. It’s not about extreme music — being loud and causing riots — it’s art,” Ari said he was most excited about watching the performance of veteran metal act Mortus.

“For some reason, we always encounter hassles obtaining permission to stage concerts,” Yura said. “But it is never the true metal kids [who cause riots], it is always the same group of guys who come only to stir things up.”

Both Yura and Ari, however, expressed confidence that the festival would come off without a hitch. Ari added, you will not even have to wear a black T-shirt and long wig: “Metal is in the heart. You can be completely naked and still have a heavy-metal soul.”

In his blog, Kiko wrote "Directly of palco of the first show in Budapeste for the “Tour-bus”. "

Angra's guitarist Kiko Loureiro has posted new update about Tarja Turunen's Summer Tour. Tarja Turunen is an ex-Nightwish vocalist and now pursuing a solo carier. In his blog Kiko wrote,

1) Rising Force Yngwie Malmsteen I’m laying it on the line right now: Yngwie J. Malmsteen was, is, and always will be the greatest shredder of all time. Hell, he invented the genre with his 1985 debut. The standout track “Far Beyond the Sun” was far beyond what any guitar player had ever imagined possible.

2) Live: Extreme Volume Racer X In the mood for a steaming bowl of notemeal? Check out this 1988 live release from shred poster boys Paul Gilbert and Bruce Bouillet. The best part? There was no pretense of cultural significance with these guys; Racer X was simply speed for the sake of speed.

3) Mind’s Eye Vinnie Moore Only one year after Yngwie unleashed his fury on U.S. shores, Vinnie Moore responded with the “Oh yeah? Check this out” release Mind’s Eye. Judas Priest talks about Michael Jackson

Judas Priest bassist Ian Hill has been interviewed by Canoe.ca's recently and talks about the death of Michael Jackson and outpouring of grief from his fans.

Ian Hill said “He was an immense star wasn’t he? Let’s face it,” said Hill, who said his death was huge news in England. “He’s a worldwide superstar really and the grief that everybody’s is showing, it doesn’t surprise me at all. He was a very, very talented man. And possibly very troubled but very talented nonetheless and he’s got millions of fans all over the place. It’s big news.”

“We sort of moved in different circles to us,” continued Hill of the Birmingham-bred band. “He was very much a pop star. We’re obviously heavy metal although I’d admire his talents, it’s not the sort of thing that I’d want to go and see. I’ll probably getting flayed online for that but it’s true nonetheless. It’s something I wouldn’t go out of my way to see.” Still, Hill understands those who would be upset they’ll never get to see his comeback. “There’s obviously a lot of people who are heartbroken over his death, there’s a lot of people very disappointed that they’re not going to see his show.”

Hill, whose band plays their only Canadian date at Toronto’s Molson Amphitheatre on July 9 ,said he understands why Jackson didn’t seem to deal with his immense fame very well.
“He never had a normal childhood if you know what I mean? Right from day one he was on a stage singing. It wasn’t like a normal upbringing. All of us, we all had comparitively normal working class childhoods and I think you get your basic life rules from there. And obviously Michael didn’t get that. He was thrust into the limelight from day one really so he got a somewhat different view it seems.”

New video footage of Chickenfoot performing at Nova Rock festival has been uploaded by fans. As previously mentioned, Chickenfoot is a rock band lined up by musicians Joe Satriani on guitar, drummer Chad Smith , bassist Michael Anthony and vocalist Sammy Hagar.

Chickenfoot LP is packaged in heat-sensitive artwork, which means when you put your hand on the CD inlay, photos of the band members will be revealed behind the Chickenfoot logo! According to Blabbermouth, Chickenfoot's self-titled debut album has sold 199,000 copies in the United States since its release. Chickenfoot first got together more than a year ago when they started jamming in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Although they called the band Chickenfoot at the time, guitarist Joe Satriani told The Pulse of Radio that nobody thought the name would stick.

"Sammy's [Hagar] saying, 'Oh, you know, we can call it Chickenfoot,' and everybody laughs and says, 'Yeah, okay, it'll never be called Chickenfoot, of course, that's a horrible name.' And that's the way it was for about nine months, until finally someone said, 'You know, you can't change it now, everyone's calling you guys Chickenfoot.' Recent updates from Children Of Bodom Website revealed another exciting news. They will release a new album, titled "Skeletons In The Closet" in the fall this year. The songs in this album is a selection of cover versions which they have been recorded since the beginning of their career.Of course there will be some new songs recorded for this release.

Megadeth guitarist Chris Broderick has issued new tour updates for Canadian Carnage Tour. Three shows have been completed so far, the last show will take place in Winnipeg MB, June 29, 06:40 PM.

In Megadeth Official Website, Chris Broderick announced: "We have played three of the four shows up here in Canada (Vancouver, Edmonton, and Calgary) and so far and the fans have been awesome. Some have been following us from show to show some even flew out from Italy to see us!!! The roster of bands has actually fit very well, I was worried that the diversity would segment the fan base to much but it seems (to me anyway) that there is something that each band brings to the table for everyone to appreciate."

In other news, Megadeth who will release their twelfth studio album, "Endgame" this September has performed a brand new track entitled "Headcrusher" Wednesday, June 24 at the General Motors Place in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. "Endgame" will be Chris Broderick's first album with Megadeth.

Megadeth and Slayer kicked off the "Canadian Carnage" tour in Canada by playing in front of thousands of people along with Machine Head and Suicide Silence. Alyson Avenue has posted new update in their myspace. The news is about their two re-released albums. Alyson Avenue is a Swedish Classic Rock band from Sweden formed in 1989, the band had released two albums, Presence Of Mind (2000) and Omega (2003), both albums were re-released in 2009. Former vocalist is Anette Olzon, who later joined the Finnish Metaller, Nightwish in 2007.

Alyson Avenue wrote '' The re-release Presence Of Mind compilation is a copy of the initial album released in 2000. The new "Omega" compilation is a totally reworked album where a lot of tracks has been re-recorded to better be in line with how the band wants the album to sound like compared to the original 2004 release of Omega. The new "Omega" compilation also has added material in the form of 5 demo songs that did not make it in to the original release for different reasons.

Slash's mother, Ola Hudson

Slash's mother, Ola Hudson has passed away Friday, June 5 after a battle with lung cancer. Ola Hudson is an African American women and worked as a costume designer for many other actors and musicians like David Bowie "Man Who Fell to Earth" getup, John Lennon and Diana Ross.

Slash the former guitarist for Guns N Roses and the current Velvet Revolvers was raised in the city of Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, until the age of 11, when his parents relocated the family to Los Angeles, California. His parents separated and he lived primarily with his mother, Ola Hudson. "My mom tried to keep me in school, but I quit in eleventh grade and soon after was living with the Guns N' Roses guys," he says. Still his mom supported his musical ambitions.

Ola Hudson once said "When Guns N' Roses started playing, we'd have to sneak Slash into clubs because he was underage". "One time they were playing the Troubadour in L.A., and we dressed him up as a woman to get him in." When asked to be photographed with his parents, Slash choose a now- vacant lot in West Hollywood, where the family shared a one bedroom apartment in 1975."It was the happiest place we ever lived," says Tony, Slash's father. "There was lots of love around." "We made the closet my bed-room," says Slash.

Big sincere condolences for Slash, his mother probably not that old, cancer sucks. It must be a very hard moment for Slash who is in a middle of completing his new album and yet has to loss his precious person at the same time.

NEURAL CODE
The perpetual search of a diverse and challenging musical way has to be inside of each one of us. The musician must inside balance of itself disturbing a beneficial arrogance leaves that safe to show it to its art and the constant doubt and of that this really condiz art with its personal yearnings. When this balance meets and they recognize it to the people and they approve, the satisfaction is full. One rewards for as much devotion to music. Therefore, the search of diverse artistic ways must be always in first plan for a sincere musician with itself exactly and strong artistic desires. It was this search that Cuca Teixeira, Thiago Espirito Santo and I made in the writing of our new work, Neural Code.
Research, intermeshing, experimentation, diversion, mixtures, synergy, plethora of musical information. We place in eight bands our neural code, that is, our DNA brain-musical comedy. We look the satisfaction with what we have of safer in each one and with what we could search of more challenging - formulas of compass, styles, textures, timbres, rhythms, harmonias and melodies that had appeared by means of this cerebral intersecção of three people who possess a diverse musical description.

We weekly found in them without preconceived ideas e, from improvisation moments and jams, the subjects took form. To each day, to each assay, a music was born of natural and satisfactory form for a three - composition with instantaneous approval and the participation of all. In this form of creation, the ego is of is of the studio and the contribution is basic.
In mine workshops, is recurrent the question on composition. Of where appears the idea? How to create a music? Melody or first harmony? E for goes there… To compose is one practical one. Michael Anthony Never Quit Van Halen

Michael Anthony never quit Van Halen. He who was interviewed by Musicradar.com yesterday claims that he actually never quit the band. This is just opposite of what has been told earlier by Van Halen frontman, Eddie Van Halen who has claimed that Michael Anthony has quit the band along with vocalist Sammy Hagar. Regarding the two different statements, MusicRadar has contacted Van Halen's management for a response and are currently awaiting a reply.

"I never quit Van Halen," says bassist Michael Anthony, who is now part of the supergroup Chickenfoot . "No way. And the funny thing is, I don't even know why the subject is coming up anymore." "I'm too busy doing my own thing," Van Halen said, who then, completely unprovoked, went into this tirade: "The funny thing is that everyone who quits the band always claims they got fired by me. Hey, I'm not the bad guy here.

"When Hagar left the band, Mike went with him," Van Halen continued. "Then when we get back together with Dave, and all of a sudden, he wants back in. It's like, 'No, dude, you quit the band.' So my son became the bass player. But we didn't give Mike the boot to have my son play."

Michael Anthony, speaking exclusively to MusicRadar, disputes Van Halen's assertions. "Why would I have quit Van Halen? It never happened. And what's weird is, he was being asked about Chickenfoot, whether he had heard us or not, and suddenly he launches into this thing about me quitting the group. What does one thing even have to do with the other?"

Anthony, who says he had to take a pay cut and sign away his rights to the Van Halen name and logo to take part in the 2004 tour the group did with Sammy Hagar, admits that he was stunned to find himself out of the band when they announced their 2007 reunion tour with singer David Lee Roth - an arena run that saw Eddie's son, Wolfgang, on bass.

"I found out about that tour like everybody else did - in the press," says Anthony. "I had no idea. At that point, I kind of sighed and went, 'Whatever. If this is what Eddie wants to do, he's going to do what he wants to do.' If he wants me out of the band and for Wolfgang to play bass, what was I going to do about it?

Even so, the bassist wants to make one thing clear: "I never 'quit.' I never once said, 'I'm out of here.' It never happened. That's the weird thing right now, for Eddie to be trying to paint himself as 'not the bad guy.'

"You know, it's weird to be talking about all of this right now," he continues, "because I'm in such a good place with Chickenfoot. The album we made, the shows we're doing, everything we're all about - we're having a blast. And the fans are digging it and they're responding."

"Eddie says he hasn't heard Chickenfoot, and I believe him, because it's true, he doesn't really listen to anything," says Anthony. "But instead of trying to rewrite the past and talk shit or whatever, he should see what we're doing and go into his studio and make some music. Make music, have some fun. Don't just talk - do!

"Ultimately, all's well that ends well," he says. "I just find it odd that I'm put into a situation where I'm forced to defend myself. Everything is great in my world and I couldn't be happier with the group I'm in. But I don't want people to think I quit Van Halen, because I didn't. It never happened."

Michael Anthony Quit Van Halen. The news was revealed when Van Halen spoke exclusively to RollingStone.com recently. Michael Anthony, the bassist for legendary band Van Halen has formed new supergroup band called Chickenfoot along with Joe Satriani, Chad Smith and Sammy Hagar. Eddie Van Halen said he never heard Chickenfoot before and didn't know what a "supergroup" means.

The interview is quite funny when Eddie Van Halen who received the Guitar God Award said : " If I'm a guitar god, then my son would be Jesus, right? That means on the next tour,
he'd have to walk on water ".

You make your own music?
Yeah, I'm too busy doing my own thing. I wish them well. The funny thing is that everyone who quits the band always claims they got fired by me. Hey, I'm not the bad guy here. When Hagar left the band, Mike went with him. Then when we get back together with Dave, and all of a sudden, he wants back in. It's like, "No, dude, you quit the band." So my son became the bass player. But we didn't give Mike the boot to have my son play. He was around. We didn't have a bass player. "Hey Wolfie, you want to play?"

It must be pretty mind-blowing to play with your kid.
He was only 15 years old. "You want to play bass?" "Sure." We did not have a bass player. That's the only thing really that bothers me about people acting like I'm the bad guy. I just sit in the studio and write music. I'm not some tyrant. I've got no beef with anybody. I wish them well. I hope they are ... I don't know what a "supergroup" means, but I hope they accomplish what they're setting out to do.

There was a time when people were writing the guitar off. What do you think of the fact that kids are playing guitar in all these games and guitar is being rediscovered by a new generation?

It is very exciting to know Anette Olzon's life outside her roles as a Nightwish vocalist. If you are a fan of Nightwish and Anette Olzon, subscribing her blog is a must.

Latest update from her blog reveals that Anette Olzon will be performing at a concert that is included in a big festival in Stockholm, Sweden in August. It is on August 13 and the evening is in the theme of Sweden-Finland and it´s called Suomi Safari. Arabella Vitanc has replaced Anette Olzon's position as a singer in Alyson Avenue. Alyson Avenue is a Swedish Classic Rock band which Anette Olzon was a lead vocalist before she joined Nightwish in 2007. After Arabella Vitanc joining in, Alyson Avenue has been completed with a fifth member .

At the band's Official Website, Arabella Vitanc has been described as a hidden Swedish jewel, is the vocalist who will join Alyson Avenue on lead vocals. Her voice will not only do justice to the old Alyson Avenue material but she will also be key in the development of the new and upcoming songs they are currently busy working on.

Alyson Avenue was formed in 1989, the band had released two albums so far, Presence Of Mind (2000) and Omega (2003), both albums were re-released in 2009. In 2007 Anette became a member of Nightwish. Amazing news about an amazing girl. Alyson Avenue is truly happy, proud and thrilled about it.

In 2008 the remaining members decided to continue with Alyson Avenue, and they started the search for a new vocalist. In 2009 Arabella Vitanc joined the band. Stratovarius Releases New Album, Polaris.

Stratovarius, the Finnish metaller will release their new album in the United States on 26th May. This album, entitled Polaris will be released via Armoury Records, it is a division of Eagle Rock Entertainment. This is Stratovarius's first album since Timo Tolkki departed from the band and the post was substituted by Matias Kupiainen, a 25 years old Finnish guitarist who fits Stratovarius perfectly with his way of melodic guitar shredding.

Timo Kotipelto, the vocalist of the band claims that Polaris is a positive, powerful album that Stratovarius fans all over the world are certain to take to their hearts. Stratovarius who was freed from many burdens of negativity recently also explained that this album has 11 songs full of energy, musicianship, and a positive outlook and was recorded in the fall 2008 at Hästholmen and 5by5 studios in Helsinki, Finland.

Marty Friedman Releases Tokyo Jukebox

As previously mentioned, Marty Friedman who has finished his ninth album "Tokyo Jukebox" will release the album today, May 20 2009. Tokyo Jukebox will be released via AVEX. To support the album release, this amazing former guitarist of Cacophony and Megadeth held a "secret live event" atop Tokyo Tower on May 19. All who attended were treated to Marty Friedman's first time performing these new songs in public. More upcoming events will be held inside and outside Japan.

Exciting news also arrives from his official website, an additional live concert date is now confirmed for just after the Gods of Metal festival in Italy. Also on June 29 Marty and his band ( Drummer Jeremy Colson, Guitarist - Takayoshi Ohmura, Bassist - Ryota) will make their first trip to Russia. Children Of Bodom Canceled Tour

Bad news arrived from Children Of Bodom official website at www.cobhc.com. Children Of Bodom was forced to cancel North American Tour regarding their guitarist Alexi Laiho's injuries. Alexi Laiho who fell from his bunk on the band's tour bus suffered a broken shoulder and internal bleeding. Alexi was in a lot of pain and tried hard to finish the tour, but failed. He was advised by doctors not to continue, and the band is going home.

Alexi Laiho said " I give everything I have to try to finish this tour and play every remaining show", and he did, indeed attempt to do so. But it was obvious to fans who attended subsequent shows that he was struggling to cope with his injury at their show in New York on May 8th, Alexi was visibly in pain and the band were unable to continue their set beyond the third song.

He added "This was a hard decision for me and I feel bad about it,” . “But it is the right thing to do if I want to keep making music. I apologize to our great fans for not being there for the remaining shows and I want to thank all the guys from the other bands; Lamb of God, As I Lay Dying, God Forbid and Municipal Waste for backing me up on this. Most of all I want to thank our fans for still being there, showing support, and continuing to rock out with me! I promise I will be back and I hope you all will too! Horns up!”

Six dates have had to be canceled, including a co-headlining show with As I Lay Dying on the 14th, but, to put the band's withdrawal from the remainder of the tour in perspective, throughout their long career, Children Of Bodom have only ever canceled two shows.
Children Of Bodom will start their European summer festival run on May 30th from Rock Hard Festival 2009 in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. Hopefully the festival dates will be carried out as planned earlier, wish him a fast recovery.

Singer Annette Olzon will quit Nightwish?

Nightwish singer Anette Olzon who recently launched her own web site at www.anette-olzon.com. is alleged having problems with the band regarding Nightwish's recent three-months break from touring. Anette reply, "At the moment, we don't have any problems. I think any group, working group, can have, after being together for a while, there will be this conflict state — every group has it; it's important for the evolvement of the group, and I think we need it. The problem wasn't that we had a problem, it was that we were so, so tired. All of us. There was no rest last year. [And now] we are all happy. We are very happy."

To manage this problem, Annette recently hired a personal manager and stated "It was a hard decision for me because I didn't want problems with the band. I said that I have different needs in these areas than the rest of the guys. I, for example, need clothing sponsors which doesn't interest the rest of the band. Now I have a person who will be able to take care of that kind of stuff ''.

Interview with Nightwish keyboardist/mainman Tuomas Holopainen revealed that Anette's divorce also one of the factor that lead this frenzy problem occurs. Tuomas replied, "She has told me a couple of times that she might not be able to handle it, on top of her divorce. I've seen her close to collapse and it has scared me, so we are protecting her. There will be no more interviews."

He added "At the beginning I had a feeling of déjà vu," he replied. "But when we discussed it I understood that she needs somebody who speaks her own language [Swedish]. Her manager is a very, very reasonable guy." Will Anette Olzon become the second singer leaving Nightwish after Tarja Turunen? I hope not.

Former IRON MAIDEN Guitarist Dennis Stratton Has 'No Regrets'

Almost every person who support metal music know the existence of legendary and most successful metal band from Britain, the Iron Maiden. All of the band members are well-known trough out the world, their trio guitarists, Adrian Smith, Dave Murray and Janick Gers are popular with their guitar riffs on songs like The Trooper, Hallowed By the Name and Invaders. But one thing that people almost forget is that Iron Maiden did had another amazing guitarist, he is Dennis Stratton (picture) . He who was still in Iron Maiden line-up when they landed major record deal with EMI back in 1979 said he has no regrets quitting Iron Maiden.

Dennis Stratton (Iron Maiden 1979/80) said " There were disagreements and arguments and when you're young you make your choices, but I have no regrets. There were other guitarists before me and there have been several others since. When I left in 1980, I joined a band called Lionheart. We signed to CBS and spent four years touring America. Later, in the '90s, I was in a band called Praying Mantis and spent 15 years between the UK and Japan.''

Dennis Stratton currently lives in Saffron Walden, but his love affair with east London in unquestionable. As well as his obvious connections to The Ruskin Arms in Manor Park, where Iron Maiden plied their early trade. Dennis Stratton added "It will be great to do all the old Pink Floyd stuff. I've got a great affiliation with Canning Town and the surrounding areas. I grew up behind the original Bridgehouse venue, Clarence Road, and that place was a life-saver for us as grew up. Buckethead Released A Real Diamond In The Rough

Buckethead the guitar virtuoso has released his new album, A Real Diamond In The Rough on 1st of May 2009. The album is dedicated to Buckethead's legal representative, Stan Diamond. This album which have 13 tracks of songs has a lot more emotion than other buckethead previous albums and shows that buckethead does not need to shred to be good. This album is also good for fans that are new to buckethead because there are no unusual songs on the album that only hardcore buckethead fans are going to like.

This is his second album this year, he released Slaughterhouse On The Prairie on January 30 this year. A Real Diamond In The Rough is not classed as rock but as avant-garde. This is a must buy album if you are a fanatic fan of Buckethead. KALMAH New Album In Progress

Finnish metal band Kalmah has issued update regarding their upcoming album. They said "We have entered the studio to record our sixh full-length album. During May we will record nine new songs and a couple of covers. Mixing and mastering will take place at the beginning of autumn when the daylight starts to disappear from Northern Finland.

"What's new? Well, I would have to say that all KALMAH elements are strongly present and the band has more strength than ever. And we will very likely use real trumpet, so at least that is something new." A studio diary is available at Here

Kalmah's last album , "For The Revolution", was released in the U.K. in July 2008 via Spinefarm. "For the Revolution" in May 2008 landed at position No. 17 on the Finnish national album chart. This was the band's strongest chart showing to date in Finland. "This album was recorded at Tico Tico studio in Kemi, Finland with producer Ahti Kortelainen and was mastered at the Cutting Room in Sweden.

To be honest, I have been having a ridiculously good time working on this project. And the singers have all been genuinely awe-inspiring and a pleasure to work with. They are the focus of what this record ultimately will sound like, regardless of how good the instruments sound. With their input, every session has had its own unique vibe and character and the songs have developed a personality unique to each individual vocalist. Cool stuff."

Atreyu New Album In Progress

Atreyu once again entered studios to begin work on the highly anticipated follow-up to 2007's "Lead Sails Paper Anchor". They set the target to finish recording the album by June and has demoed 30 songs but plans to cut it down to 16. Good news for metal listener because they stated want to return to their roots, which is heavy hardcore while also continuing to move forward. They added that the songs definitely have a dark and heavier feel.

The band's drummer/vocalist Brandon Saller said "This album will scream as a statement of where we've been, what we've become and where we will go. We think this record will be a huge marker in the life of Atreyu and we can't wait to unveil it."

The band's last album "Lead Sails Paper Anchor" was released succesfully, debuted at No. 8 on Billboard's Top 200, making it both the highest debut and highest-charting album of the band's career. It followed 2006's "A Death-Grip On Yesterday", which entered the chart at No. 9. The album, drew rave reviews from media outlets around the world, including Metal Hammer, who declared it to be "a truly landmark album." Kerrang! gave the record 4 K's and Blender gave it 3 ½ stars and called it "metal that takes you to a magical bygone era." Revolver awarded the album 4 stars and praised it for flowing "beautifully through the speakers" and for being "a coffin-tight collection of singles."

Slash's Album Update

More news available on Slash's new solo album, the album which is still in recording processes puts Slash on hard at work in his studio. Slash revealed on his Myspace that so far he had nailed four killer tracks with four amazing vocals and he claimed that everything will be on track as scheduled. He added " Everybody who has contributed vocals so far have been flawless and the rhythm section, Josh and Chris, are priceless. Its definitely going to be a kick-ass record, if I do say so myself."

In order to explore other styles of music, Slash has been picking and choosing a different lineup for each song thus ensuring a wide range of different styles and musicians will take part in the project. For this purpose, he didn't asked Velvet Revolver's drummer, Matt Sorum to help with his album but choose another lineup for drum position. Matt Sorum replied " "He hasn't asked me. You know he's got Jason Bonham playing on it and Travis Barker and I think he wants to kind of separate himself and do his own thing and that's cool. I mean when he first did Snakepit, I told him years ago that I thought it might be a good idea for him to bring in different singers and do that kind of thing, when we did the first Snakepit album way back when.

In other news, Slash and his Velvet Revolver band mates who are still continue searching for a replacement for vocalist Scott Weiland as they continue to write material in hopes to find the perfect front man soon. Slash also will perform a solo concert at the 2009 Quart Festival on June 30th until July 4th in Kristiansand, Norway. Stay tuned for more updates.

Guitar virtuoso Marty Friedman announced on his website that he finally has finished work on his latest album,"Tokyo Jukebox". This is his 9th album and been produced and arranged by Marty himself, the new disc reflects the chaotic lifestyle of Tokyo, its unique music and his futuristic interpretation of it.

Sonically it goes from his "Loudspeaker" lineup all the way to a 70 piece symphony orchestra. Marty covers the most unlikely artists to get his guitar heavy treatment, including Perfume, Maximum the Hormone, AI, Nakashima Mika, Ikimono Gakari and 7 other staples in the world of current Japanese music.

Music Used As Torture In US Prison

The long history of music being used as an alternative weapon to break prisoner mental by the U.S. is well known internationally, the U.S. has used loud music against those held in Guantanamo Bay, Iraq and Afghanistan. Music is suppose to be enjoyed and not as a weapon to create fear, disorient and prolong capture shock. Detainees now aren't the only ones complaining, musicians are banding together to demand the U.S. military stop using their songs as weapons.

Among artists who made their strong stand regarding this issue is Metallica's drummer, Lars Ulrich. To quote some of his word "If there are people that are dumb enough to use Metallica to interrogate prisoners, you're forgetting about all the music that's to the left of us."

Guitarist Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine has been particularly upset with this manner, "I suggest that they level Guantanamo Bay, but they keep one small cell and they put [former U.S. President George W. Bush] in there ... and they blast some Rage Against the Machine." Hahaha, I agreed with him.

Plenty lost their minds because of it. Imagine you are locked in an overcooled 9-foot-by-9-foot cell that had a speaker with a metal grate over it. Two large speakers stood in the hallway outside and the same music is being blasted into your ears day by day. Obviously a metalhead him/herself will not endure this kind of pains, how about the majority of detainees who grew up in Afghanistan where music was prohibited under Taliban rule? Lamb Of God Guitarist Is a Race Fan

Lamb Of God guitarist Mark Morton has always been a huge car enthusiast and even races competitively will be taking part in an NHRA racing event in St. Louis, MO in support of race car driver and metal fan Shawn Langdon. Morton will be there at the starting line for Langdon’s races at the O’Reilly NHRA Midwest Nationals.

His favorite car he owned growing up was a ’71 Oldsmobile 442 he restored with his family. Morton now races an ’81 Oldsmobile Cutlass that clears the ? mile in just over 11 seconds in bracket racing, a form of drag racing. He has become friends with several professional drivers including Scott Wimmer and Justin Marks, and, as a NASCAR fan who never misses a race, plans to continue supporting motorsports as much as possible.

"I'm thrilled about my upcoming trip to the O'Reilly NHRA Midwest Nationals!" said Morton. "As a life-long race fan and a drag racer myself, I couldn't be more excited at this opportunity to get an up close look at some of the world's greatest drivers and crews going head to head."

Langdon said "I actually have their new album 'Wrath' on my iPod and I listen to them before I race to get me pumped up,". "Ever since I found out about this visit, I've been excited. At least the loud noise won't be a problem, but I bet we'll still send a shock any way. Warmen's New Album

After nearly 5 years waiting, Warmen finally informed their forth album release date. The album title is "Japanese Hospitality" and will be released on August 24 via Spine Farm record. If you aren't familiar with this amazing band, then here is a quick information of them. Warmen is a side project of Children Of Bodom keyboardist, Janne Wirman. Some of his composed songs actually doesn't fit into Children Of Bodom's style of music, to express his composition, he then formed a side project called Warmen in 2000. Their first album is 'Unknown Soldier', produced back in 2000 and the last album is 'Accept The Fact', released in 2005.

This forth album, according to Blabbermouth.net, will include eight song effort and two cover versions — "Separate Ways" by JOURNEY, and "Black Cat" by JANET JACKSON, featuring a guest appearance by the Finnish pop/rock queen Jonna Kosonen. Other guest musicians that appear on the CD include Alexi Laiho (CHILDREN OF BODOM) and Pasi Rantanen (ex-THUNDERSTONE).

Warmen revealed that the album would be heavier than the band's previous output, with more aggressive guitar riffs. There will be just two instrumental tracks, and every song has a different singer. The next WARMEN album will be the group's strongest effort to date because it has "the best songs, best vocalists and the best sounds." Warmen's third full-length album, "Accept the Fact", was released in July 2005 via Spinefarm Records. The follow-up to 2002's "Beyond Abilities" included guest appearances by CHILDREN OF BODOM frontman Alexi Laiho and STRATOVARIUS Timo Kotipelto. "Japanese Hospitality" will be preceded by a brand new compilation, rounding up the best of the keyboardist's solo work to date.

Is Alexi Laiho gay? I've checked the internet but don't found any of his statements denying it. I hope Alexi himself read this post and make his strong stand about the scandal.Until now I still want to believe that he is actually a straight guy and all the pictures circulated in the internet are just for fun.

I remembered reading an article few years back that Alexi had married a woman named Kimberly Goss. She is a founder of band called Synergy, where Alexi Laiho also a member of it.(It is been a long time since Synergy released their last album, hope to hear from them soon).

People may think the scandal is not a big issue. You may think that you just listened to their songs, not following their lifestyle. You will not become a gay person for just listening to Children Of Bodom songs! If that is what you are thinking, I actually agree with you. Other people may think differently, well everybody has their own thought right?

Iron Maiden New Studio Album

Iron Maiden will enter the studio to record their next album this year. This legendary and most successful British heavy metal band will start working with their new materials and hope to have a new album out and be back on tour in 2010.

This upcoming album will be the Iron Maiden's fifteenth studio record, and they face a challenge to follow up their last material, 2006s 'A Matter of Life and Death' which was received well critically and saw the band tour playing the whole album.

Speaking at the premiere of the band's documentary film 'Iron Maiden: Flight666', Adrian added: "There's always a bit of pressure to follow up the last album, in a way it's good because it motivates you.

"We never get complacent; we always try our best for our own sake as much as anything else. As far as pressure for another album, we just do what we do - we've been doing it long enough now, we know what we are doing."

Tony Fredianelli on Tour with Third Eye Blind Preps Solo Project

Third Eye Blind is on tour in support of its EP Red Star, released December, 2008, online only. The EP includes the track "Non Dairy Creamer," currently airing on 17 Alt-Indie radio stations. "This song is off the EP and we did not push or press and it blew up on its own. That to me is amazing,” explains 3EB guitarist Tony Fredianelli. “We must be doing something right, we have really solid music. The new album coming is some of our best work.” Fredianelli's referring to an album tentatively titled Ursa Major that's set for release later this year.

Fredianelli is a Mike Varney discovery. Varney signed the guitarist to his Shrapnel Records label when Fredianelli was 16 after hearing a demo tape. Fredianelli was a member of the speed metal, neo-classical band Apocrypha with whom he recorded three albums, the first two of which were produced by former Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman, with Fredianelli producing the third. In 1992, Varney introduced Fredianelli to a then unknown singer, Stephen Jenkins, and he was asked to join the band Third Eye Blind.

Also scheduled for release later this year is a solo project from Fredianelli. “Before I joined 3EB I was a solo artist. I started playing at 14 and really excelled at guitar. I want to go back to my roots and create some of that shredding guitar that started my career,” says Fredianelli.

Andy Sneap is back at the helm in Vic’s Garage and it is such a natural thing to see Andy here with me, that I am thinking of trying to find him an American super-model that will marry him and spend the rest of their lives in San Diego make records for me and making whoppee for Android!

Billy Sheehan Released New Album

Billy Sheehan, the great legendary bassist (MR. BIG, DAVID LEE ROTH, TALAS) had appeared as special guest on Diana DeVille's KNAC.COM '80s hair metal specialty program "WildSide" on April 18 at 4:00 p.m. PST. The show had been broadcasted live via the Internet at www.knac.com.

Billy Sheehan will perform songs from his latest solo release, "Holy Cow", at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California on Thursday, April 30. This special performance will be held in the Musicians Institute Amphitheatre and is open to the public. First 500 fans will be guaranteed seating up close to see Sheehan play, ask questions and meet Sheehan one-on-one. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and show starts at 6:00 p.m.

Billy Sheehan released "Holy Cow" in Japan on October 22, 2008 via JVC Victor. The CD, which became available in North America on April 14 via Mascot Records, was recorded at Billy's home studio in California and includes special guest players such as Billy Gibbons (ZZ TOP), Doug Pinnick (KING'S X), Paul Gilbert (MR. BIG, RACER X) and Tony MacAlpine.

Sheehan, who has played with David Lee Roth, Mr. Big, Steve Vai and Niacin, among others, is a five-time winner of Guitar Player's reader poll for Best Rock Bass Player. Holy Cow!, Sheehan's third solo release, includes guest performances by Billy Gibbons on “A Lit’l Bit’l Do It To Ya Ev’ry Time,” Paul Gilbert (who played with Sheehan in Mr. Big) on “Dynamic Exhilarator,” Dug Pinnick (Kings-X) on the song “Turning Point” as well as Ray Luzier on drums and shred master Tony MacAlpine.
