Buckethead Signature Les Paul

Guitar manufacturer Gibson has mentioned about Buckethead Signature Les Paul in their official website recently.

"From his prolific solo work, to his prominent memberships in the supergroup Praxis and rock legends Guns N’ Roses, Buckethead has displayed one of the most fiery creative personas of our times, and has continually affirmed his stance in the upper echelon of contemporary shredders. Equally attention-grabbing as his incendiary chops, Buckethead’s stage show and visual presence remain unique among the rock field, and his Gibson guitars—a white Les Paul in particular—have always been a big part of that. As Gibson continues to roll out the Rocktober action, the Buckethead Signature Les Paul celebrates this unparalleled artist’s achievements. With an oversized, chambered Les Paul body, a marker-less ebony fingerboard, and Buckethead’s choice of Gibson’s contemporary ceramic humbucking pickups—complete with modified electronics and “arcade” style kill switches—this is a Les Paul like none to have come before. It’s primed to get you noticed, and designed for utmost performance for the contemporary rock, metal, and shred performer."

Slash's new album will out next year

Recent update from Slash revealed that his solo album will only available next year, the album which will enter the mixing process in September is really great & deserves tour support according to him.

Slash wrote:

Hey all, hope you're all good. I'm long between blogs, I know.

Anyway, I don't know how I'm supposed to wait until next year to put out this record! It is so fucking cool & I am so anxious to get it out already. We start mixing soon & that will be that, ready to go. But, I have to wait, there's no way around it, for all kinds of logistic reasons & that's the reality.

But, my VR bandmates & I had a meeting a couple of weeks ago & although the search for a singer will continue, I am going to tour on my solo record most likely thru next summer starting in March or April. We (VR) will keep the word of mouth system going & listening to submissions from singers & checking out different singer's sites etc, we know the right guy is out there somewhere. It's possible somebody could turn up before I do my tour & we could start working on new material sooner than later, in a perfect world.

As far as my tour is concerned, I have already started to put together ideas for a kickass band & the plan is to perform some new stuff, Snakepit, VR & Guns stuff. The new album is really great & deserves that I should support it. Plus, I'm really looking forward to getting out there & doing some gigs, its been more than a year since I was on a proper tour & all these one off jams are basically just a tease.

So, there's the update for now, I'm still tinkering away on the solo record but there really isn't much left to do on it but mix it, which starts in September.

Cool, Take care, talk to you soon,

Slash

Kevin Cogill Gets House Arrest

Kevin Cogill, the Guns N Roses' Chinese Democracy uploader gets house arrest, Kevin Cogill was handed one year probation and two months’ home confinement after he was agreeing to produce an anti-piracy message.

Guns N Roses's latest album, Chinese Democracy was released in November, was cost millions and took 17 years to complete. After 'stealing' the album and uploaded it to the internet before the official release, Kevin Cogill was arrested and found guilty. Cogill faced a maximum of a year in prison and the amount of infringement equaled $371,000. After agreed to help produce an anti-piracy public service address with the RIAA, the government withdrew the $371,000 figure and agreed not to fine him.

He informed the authorities that he received the music online and unsolicited — a confession prosecutors said might pave the way for more “targets” to be prosecuted. Cogill uploaded nine songs from the 14-track album on June 18, 2008. Court records show he confessed to the FBI. The case was cracked by an investigator with the RIAA.

Lesson from this news, beware of what you are sharing in the internet, you might become the next Kevin Cogill. Seriously dude, no piracy!

Slash's mother dies

Slash's mother, Ola Hudson

Slash's mother, Ola Hudson has passed away Friday, June 5 after a battle with lung cancer. Ola Hudson is an African American women and worked as a costume designer for many other actors and musicians like David Bowie "Man Who Fell to Earth" getup, John Lennon and Diana Ross.

Slash the former guitarist for Guns N Roses and the current Velvet Revolvers was raised in the city of Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, until the age of 11, when his parents relocated the family to Los Angeles, California. His parents separated and he lived primarily with his mother, Ola Hudson. "My mom tried to keep me in school, but I quit in eleventh grade and soon after was living with the Guns N' Roses guys," he says. Still his mom supported his musical ambitions.

Ola Hudson once said "When Guns N' Roses started playing, we'd have to sneak Slash into clubs because he was underage". "One time they were playing the Troubadour in L.A., and we dressed him up as a woman to get him in." When asked to be photographed with his parents, Slash choose a now- vacant lot in West Hollywood, where the family shared a one bedroom apartment in 1975."It was the happiest place we ever lived," says Tony, Slash's father. "There was lots of love around." "We made the closet my bed-room," says Slash.

Big sincere condolences for Slash, his mother probably not that old, cancer sucks. It must be a very hard moment for Slash who is in a middle of completing his new album and yet has to loss his precious person at the same time.

More Slash's Album Update

More news available on new album, Slash writes on his MySpace page: "By next Monday, we will have nine songs with vocals recorded. It really is a killer record so far and it sonically sounds amazing. We've recorded everything analog and that makes a huge difference in the most positive way. Eric Valentine is the perfect producer to handle all this spontaneous information and energy I've been throwing at him, he is really a one of a kind technician.

"It's hard to explain, but I really needed this creative outlet to do stuff I haven't been at liberty to do in a LONG while. To be honest, I have been having a ridiculously good time working on this project. And the singers have all been genuinely awe-inspiring and a pleasure to work with. They are the focus of what this record ultimately will sound like, regardless of how good the instruments sound. With their input, every session has had its own unique vibe and character and the songs have developed a personality unique to each individual vocalist. Cool stuff."

Unfortunately this record is not going to come out until next year, but it's going to be worth the wait, he promised. Stay tuned for more updates.

Slash's Album Update

More news available on Slash's new solo album, the album which is still in recording processes puts Slash on hard at work in his studio. Slash revealed on his Myspace that so far he had nailed four killer tracks with four amazing vocals and he claimed that everything will be on track as scheduled. He added " Everybody who has contributed vocals so far have been flawless and the rhythm section, Josh and Chris, are priceless. Its definitely going to be a kick-ass record, if I do say so myself."

In order to explore other styles of music, Slash has been picking and choosing a different lineup for each song thus ensuring a wide range of different styles and musicians will take part in the project. For this purpose, he didn't asked Velvet Revolver's drummer, Matt Sorum to help with his album but choose another lineup for drum position. Matt Sorum replied " "He hasn't asked me. You know he's got Jason Bonham playing on it and Travis Barker and I think he wants to kind of separate himself and do his own thing and that's cool. I mean when he first did Snakepit, I told him years ago that I thought it might be a good idea for him to bring in different singers and do that kind of thing, when we did the first Snakepit album way back when.

In other news, Slash and his Velvet Revolver band mates who are still continue searching for a replacement for vocalist Scott Weiland as they continue to write material in hopes to find the perfect front man soon. Slash also will perform a solo concert at the 2009 Quart Festival on June 30th until July 4th in Kristiansand, Norway. Stay tuned for more updates.

Guns N’ Roses New Guitarist

Axl Rose is always been forced finding new guitarist since the departure of founding members Slash and Izzy Stradlin in the ‘90s. Guitarists that have been worked with Axl Rose in the past, to mention some, Buckethead, Robin Finck and Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal. So when the band announced that they had recruited DJ Ashba for their forthcoming tour, it was hard not to be a bit cynical. Ashba’s their guitarist today but GnR will surely change their line up sooner.

Ashba about Guns & Roses:
“It’s an honor to have the opportunity to be a part of a band that I have always loved and respected,” Ashba said. “I’m looking forward to working with Axl Rose, who is not only one of the few great frontmen of our generation, but a true artist.”

As of now, there hasn’t been any official news about a summer tour, although rumors abound that it’s definitely happening.

Slash

Slash performing in 2008

His real name is Saul Hudson (born 23 July 1965), he is widely known known as the former lead guitarist of Guns N' Roses (1985–1996) and as the current lead guitarist of Velvet Revolver.

History of Guns N' Roses Formation
In 1984, both Slash and Axl Rose, with their own band opened for Christian metal band Stryper. After the show, they were introduced to one another by a friend. The two quickly became friends, months later, Slash and his friends, Steven Adler were invited to join with Axl Rose, Duff McKagan and Izzy Stradlin. That was the day Guns N' Roses was formed.

Guns N' Roses (1985–1996)
The band once had been tagged as the "Most Dangerous Band In The World".From the start, they've built their images by spent half of their advance on clothes, and the other half on alcohol and drugs. With 15 million copies sold in the United States, their album Appetite for Destruction is the second highest selling debut album of all time, behind Boston's debut. By 1988, Guns N' Roses scored its first #1 hit with Sweet Child o' Mine. At the same year, Guns N' Roses released G N' R Lies and it sold over 5 million copies.
In 1991, the band released Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II. They toured for 28-month long to promote their new albums. Upon completion of the tour, Slash was naturalized, becoming an American citizen.
Because of his long confrontation with Axl Rose, Slash officially departed from GNR in 1996. As Rose expressed a desire to pursue more progressive genres, Slash and McKagan fought to maintain their traditional sound as a punk/blues-based hard rock band.

Velvet Revolver (2002-present)
They released their first single, "Set Me Free" as part of the soundtrack for The Hulk. In June 2004, they released their first studio album, Contraband. The album went double platinum and re-established Slash as a mainstream performer. In July 2007, they released Libertad, a follow-up to their multi-platinum debut. Following their second studio album, Velvet Revolver also began a second tour. On March 20, 2008 during a glasgow gig, Weiland announced to their audience that it would be Velvet Revolver's final tour. On 1 April 2008, Scott Weiland officially split from Velvet Revolver. On September 30, 2008, Slash began recording demos for the upcoming album.Rumored singers for the project include Slash's close friends Lenny Kravitz, Sebastian Bach, Alice Cooper and Vince Neil as well as his past Guns N' Roses pals, Izzy Stradlin and Duff McKagan.
