Alexi Laiho, Fan meet and greet in Canada

Alexi Laiho the frontman of Finnish metallers CHILDREN OF BODOM will be at Steve's Music Store to take part in a fan meet-and-greet on September 23 at 4:30 p.m.

Steve's Music Store is located at 51 Saint-Antoine West (Metro Place d'Armes) in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. No photos or filming will be allowed. Fans must come early if they want to meet Alexi.

In other news, COB's new album "Skeletons In The Closet", will be released on September 23 through Spinefarm. This album is a selection of cover versions, some of them existing recordings, others specially laid down for this release. Please support them by buying the original one. Children Of Bodom "Skeletons In The Closet"

Recent updates from Children Of Bodom Website revealed another exciting news. They will release a new album, titled "Skeletons In The Closet" in the fall this year. The songs in this album is a selection of cover versions which they have been recorded since the beginning of their career.Of course there will be some new songs recorded for this release.

Children Of Bodom has done covers for many artists since their first album, to mention some "No Commands" by Stone (guitarist was the young Roope Latvala), "Aces High" by Iron Maiden, "Silent Scream" by Slayer and "Ooops!… I Did It Again" by Britney Spears.

Children Of Bodom South American Tour

Children Of Bodom, COB will touring South American this September. This is the first time Children Of Bodom touring South America since five years ago. This great Finnish metaller will be supported by Amorphis, who have just released their brilliant Skyforger album.

Updates from Children Of Bodom Official Website reveals four tours date at four different countries, Argentina, Chile, Brazil and Mexico. The tour dates are as follows:

Children Of Bodom Canceled Tour

Bad news arrived from Children Of Bodom official website at www.cobhc.com. Children Of Bodom was forced to cancel North American No Fear Energy Tour regarding their guitarist Alexi Laiho's injuries. Alexi Laiho who fell from his bunk on the band's tour bus suffered a broken shoulder and internal bleeding. Alexi was in a lot of pain and tried hard to finish the tour, but failed. He was advised by doctors not to continue, and the band is going home.

Alexi Laiho said " I give everything I have to try to finish this tour and play every remaining show", and he did, indeed attempt to do so. But it was obvious to fans who attended subsequent shows that he was struggling to cope with his injury at their show in New York on May 8th, Alexi was visibly in pain and the band were unable to continue their set beyond the third song.

He added "This was a hard decision for me and I feel bad about it,” . “But it is the right thing to do if I want to keep making music. I apologize to our great fans for not being there for the remaining shows and I want to thank all the guys from the other bands; Lamb of God, As I Lay Dying, God Forbid and Municipal Waste for backing me up on this. Most of all I want to thank our fans for still being there, showing support, and continuing to rock out with me! I promise I will be back and I hope you all will too! Horns up!”

Six dates have had to be canceled, including a co-headlining show with As I Lay Dying on the 14th, but, to put the band's withdrawal from the remainder of the tour in perspective, throughout their long career, Children Of Bodom have only ever canceled two shows.
Children Of Bodom will start their European summer festival run on May 30th from Rock Hard Festival 2009 in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. Hopefully the festival dates will be carried out as planned earlier, wish him a fast recovery.

Lamb Of God Guitarist Is a Race Fan

Lamb Of God guitarist Mark Morton has always been a huge car enthusiast and even races competitively will be taking part in an NHRA racing event in St. Louis, MO in support of race car driver and metal fan Shawn Langdon. Morton will be there at the starting line for Langdon’s races at the O’Reilly NHRA Midwest Nationals.

His favorite car he owned growing up was a ’71 Oldsmobile 442 he restored with his family. Morton now races an ’81 Oldsmobile Cutlass that clears the ? mile in just over 11 seconds in bracket racing, a form of drag racing. He has become friends with several professional drivers including Scott Wimmer and Justin Marks, and, as a NASCAR fan who never misses a race, plans to continue supporting motorsports as much as possible.

"I'm thrilled about my upcoming trip to the O'Reilly NHRA Midwest Nationals!" said Morton. "As a life-long race fan and a drag racer myself, I couldn't be more excited at this opportunity to get an up close look at some of the world's greatest drivers and crews going head to head."

Langdon said "I actually have their new album 'Wrath' on my iPod and I listen to them before I race to get me pumped up,". "Ever since I found out about this visit, I've been excited. At least the loud noise won't be a problem, but I bet we'll still send a shock any way. It's impossible to prepare for 8,000 horsepower and I can't wait to get 'em on the starting line and show them what we do."

Lamb Of God will be touring to support their latest album, Wrath, which debuted at Number 2 on Billboard. The tour also features great bands like As I Lay Dying, Children Of Bodom, God Forbid, and Municipal Waste.

Warmen's New Album

After nearly 5 years waiting, Warmen finally informed their forth album release date. The album title is "Japanese Hospitality" and will be released on August 24 via Spine Farm record. If you aren't familiar with this amazing band, then here is a quick information of them. Warmen is a side project of Children Of Bodom keyboardist, Janne Wirman. Some of his composed songs actually doesn't fit into Children Of Bodom's style of music, to express his composition, he then formed a side project called Warmen in 2000. Their first album is 'Unknown Soldier', produced back in 2000 and the last album is 'Accept The Fact', released in 2005.

This forth album, according to Blabbermouth.net, will include eight song effort and two cover versions — "Separate Ways" by JOURNEY, and "Black Cat" by JANET JACKSON, featuring a guest appearance by the Finnish pop/rock queen Jonna Kosonen. Other guest musicians that appear on the CD include Alexi Laiho (CHILDREN OF BODOM) and Pasi Rantanen (ex-THUNDERSTONE).

Warmen revealed that the album would be heavier than the band's previous output, with more aggressive guitar riffs. There will be just two instrumental tracks, and every song has a different singer. The next WARMEN album will be the group's strongest effort to date because it has "the best songs, best vocalists and the best sounds." Warmen's third full-length album, "Accept the Fact", was released in July 2005 via Spinefarm Records. The follow-up to 2002's "Beyond Abilities" included guest appearances by CHILDREN OF BODOM frontman Alexi Laiho and STRATOVARIUS Timo Kotipelto. "Japanese Hospitality" will be preceded by a brand new compilation, rounding up the best of the keyboardist's solo work to date.

Alexi Laiho Gay?

Is Alexi Laiho gay? I've checked the internet but don't found any of his statements denying it. I hope Alexi himself read this post and make his strong stand about the scandal.Until now I still want to believe that he is actually a straight guy and all the pictures circulated in the internet are just for fun.

I remembered reading an article few years back that Alexi had married a woman named Kimberly Goss. She is a founder of band called Synergy, where Alexi Laiho also a member of it.(It is been a long time since Synergy released their last album, hope to hear from them soon).

People may think the scandal is not a big issue. You may think that you just listened to their songs, not following their lifestyle. You will not become a gay person for just listening to Children Of Bodom songs! If that is what you are thinking, I actually agree with you. Other people may think differently, well everybody has their own thought right?

He is a current member of Children Of Bodom and Sinergy. He joined Children Of Bodom in 2003 when Alexander Kuoppala decided to quit the band. He was the first Finnish guitarist that had received high recognitions in Finland. At the very young age of 15 he founded Stone, the most notable band in Finnish metal scenes. In the beginning, Stone's music styles were more like traditional metal sound, but as time goes on, they slowly shifted to a faster and more aggressive sound, which was the key for them to receive mass recognition.The band had produced four studio albums, one live album and one compilation album. When the band was disbanded in 1993, Roople continued his music work as a solo artist. He also played with several local band like Dementia, Waltari and Latvala Bros. During the whole of his career, Roope had many side projects and played as a guest musician, the most notable of the being: Warmen (Side project by Children Of Bodom keyboardist, Janne Warmen), Nomicon, Pornonorsu, Jailbreakers, Gloomy Grim, Amon Amarth, and Soulgrind. At times he also composed movie soundtracks.
The band Children Of Bodom had a very difficult time in 2003, one of their member Alexander Kuoppala took a shocking action to quit the band in the middle of their tour. Alexi Laiho and other band members forced to find a new guitarist, they tried to recruit several guitarist to play with them as a session line up but failed. Roople decided to give a hand as a session member and immediately agreed and acepted by Alexi. Both of then already know each other from the side project, Synergy that they've joined and played together. Roope got a very limited amount of time to learn all 20 songs to be played alive for the band tour but in the end manage to play all of them successfully. Despite been anounced only as a session player, Roople remained with the band and became a permanent member.
Together with other members, he recorded "Trashed, Lost & Strungout EP, "Are You Dead Yet? LP" and the most recent is "Bloodrunk". For those who haven't listen to it yet, I strongly suggest you should do it.

ESP Alexi Laiho Signature Models

Great guitarist. He is a lead guitarist for band called children Of Bodom Finland. He played guitar and sing at the same time.This is completely a difficult task to do. People always found that they can't sing well while playing guitar at the same time, but not for Alexi Laiho. I had all of the band albums from the first one until the latest one.I only managed to get the un-original album for the latest one, wah it is hard to find the original one in Malaysia. But if I find one, I'm definitely gonna buy it. Say no to piracy! I'm sure all of us agree that piracy will only brings disadvantages to the music industry right? So lets buy the original one, no buyers no sellers! Ok, enough of my speechs. Lets go back to Alexi Laiho topic.

Well, Alexi Laiho is surely a true guitar hero, at such young age he and the band already won many awards, within their country and of course internationally. The reason why he has a high techniques of guitar playing skills is because a lot of sacrifices he made. He was dropped out from school since he was 16 and playing guitar is what he was doing ever since. He once said that "We've done this (making music) is not because of money, if one of the band member decided to quit then let he go, because it gonna be totally fake if he still staying and not enjoying it." I've quoted his words from the metal video produced in 2001. I forget the video title, trying to search it within my hardisk but what the f##k, I've just formatted my laptop and lose the video,arrgghh! If someone knows the video that I'm talking about, please do tell, really want to see it again.

You know, I actually can write a lot about Alexi Laiho, but I bet you will get bored reading my thought about him, besides all informations about him is available on the internet. There is no point for me to copy and paste, and re-posting it in here. I'm wishing all band members of Children Of Bodom, ( Alexi, Roope, Jaska, Janne, Henkka and ex-member,Alexander) a super gigantic, titanic good luck, still many years to come, the band has a very bright futures!!! Metal forever!!!
